Empowering Farmers Through Cocoa Seedling Distribution
On 05 February 2026, the Mazingira Plus Project reached an important milestone through the distribution of 15,000 cocoa seedlings to local farmers. This initiative aims to strengthen livelihoods, promote sustainable agriculture, and improve household incomes.
The event brought together farmers from Mofu Village, Ikwambi Village, and Ihenga Village, who were identified as the primary beneficiaries of this first phase.
Supporting Sustainable Farming
This distribution forms part of the first phase of the Mazingira Plus Project, implemented over a two-year period. The project introduces cocoa as a climate-resilient cash crop while equipping farmers with quality seedlings to boost long-term productivity and income generation.
Farmers expressed heartfelt appreciation, noting that the cocoa seedlings represent not only new farming opportunities but also hope for improved economic stability for their families.
“This project is about empowering our farmers and protecting our environment at the same time. By investing in cocoa farming, we are creating sustainable income sources while encouraging responsible land use. Mazingira Plus is a long-term commitment to community development, and this first phase lays a strong foundation for the years ahead.”

Looking Ahead
As the Mazingira Plus Project moves forward, continued training and follow-up support will accompany future activities to ensure the successful establishment of cocoa farms across the three villages.
The initiative stands as a strong example of how community-driven projects can successfully combine environmental stewardship with economic growth.
