PROJECTS IMPLEMENTED BY MOFU ROTHENBURG ORGANIZATION

Mofu Rothenburg Vocational Training Center

The organization in cooperation with Mofu Rothenburg Association of Switzerland has been able to construct a vocational training center and the organizational head office. With the aim of helping people living in difficult conditions especially young people and women, this center is offering various vocational training courses such as basic tailoring, basic electrical installation, basic welding, masonry and brick laying course. In the near future the Organization expects to introduce other courses like agriculture, computer application, carpentry, food production, hair dressing and beautification. This Vocational Training Center is located at Mpakani Street in Ihenga Village within Mofu Ward in Kilombero District, Morogoro Region. Current courses which are offered in the vocational training center include the following:-

Basic Tailoring

In cooperation with Mofu Rothenburg Association of Switzerland the organization is offering a six months tailoring course to the young women and men of Mofu. In this course the students learn to how make clothes and mend them easily. The course is fully funded by Mofu Rothenburg Association of Switzerland.

Basic Electricians

The organization is offering a six months basic course for electrical trainings to the young women and men of Mofu. At the end of the course the students will be able to carry out simple installations as independent professionals. The course is fully funded by Mofu Rothenburg Association of Switzerland.

Basic Masons/bricklayers

The organization is offering a six months basic course for house building to the young men and women of Mofu. At the end of the course the students will be able to carry out building work as professional Masons. The course is fully funded by Mofu Rothenburg Association of Switzerland.

Basic welding

The organization is offering a six months basic course for welding training to the young men and women of Mofu. The course offers students to learn basic techniques of welding. At the end of the course the students will be able to carry out welding activities as professional welders. The course is fully funded by Mofu Rothenburg Association of Switzerland.

Agriculture projects

Mofu Rothenburg Organization in cooperation with Mofu Rothenburg Association of Switzerland works with farming communities to introduce sustainable farming practices that increase agricultural output. We are working with the Union of farmer’s groups in Mofu (UVIWAMO). There are about eight (8) groups of Mofu local rice farmers consists of 146 members with 479 dependants whom we provide them knowledge in sustainable agricultural farming with small grants to boost their rice farming activities.

Water Filter Project

The organization in collaboration with Mofu Rothenburg Association of Switzerland and other donors has distributed ten (10) water kiosks to six primary schools, one secondary school, one vocational training center, Ihenga Center and Mofu Mission in Mofu Ward to ensure the availability of safe and clean water to the communities through “Water Filter Project” which in turn has reduced a number of diseases associated with water to the students and communities.

Provision of School meals

The organization is also providing sugar to all primary schools in Mofu Ward which allows students to drink porridge throughout the year. This project has not only reduce the number of drop out students within Mofu but also enables students to get something to eat in the morning and which allows them to concentrate more in the studies and hence led to the improve and increase their academic performance. In this project, the organization provides sugar and pays for cooks salaries while the parents contributed maize and rice.

School projects

Helping local students living in difficult condition

The organization in collaboration with Mofu Rothenburg Association of Switzerland supports students living in difficult condition by paying school fees in secondary school, middle colleges and universities. It also provides them with essential study necessities such as exercise books, books, bags, shoes and uniforms. Through this project, many young people in need of assistance have benefited by getting education and vocational training.

Improvement of learning environment in primary and secondary schools.

In collaboration with Mofu Rothenburg Association of Switzerland, the organization has helped to improve the learning environment for primary and secondary school students and teachers in Mofu Ward by supporting renovation of classrooms and teachers’ houses, drilling of wells, purchase of chairs and tables, hostel beds, photocopy machine, laptop, generator, jersey and balls.

Local Communities Group projects

Water for all Group

Water for all Group, a group of young people in Mofu, engaged in drilling wells and installation of water systems. Mofu Rothenburg Organization has provided them with well drilling equipments to enable them to become economically self sufficient by offering water services to the local communities.

Jikwamue Group

Jikwamue Group, a group of local villagers’ men and women in Mofu, engaged in agriculture activities. Mofu Rothenburg Organization has provided them with finance to support their house construction project within the group members and agriculture equipments to enable them to become economically self-sufficient.

Mapendo group

Mapendo Group, a group of loving mothers, engaged in cooking. Mofu Rothenburg Organization has provided them with cooking equipment to enable them to become economically self-sufficient by offering catering services to the local people.

Environmental friendly projects

The organization also supports environmental projects like bees keeping project, in cooperation with Mofu Rothenburg Association of Switzerland, we have been able to support Mokonyo bees keeping group, and this is a local group in Mofu. We are also open to all other environmental projects which fit our organizational objectives.

Religious projects

Through various contributions from different donors the organization has been able to do renovation activities to the Mofu Parish Catholic Church, Mofu Parish Priest’s house, reconstruction of the catechist house, renovation of Mofu Ward Masjid and Ihenga Masjid.

Strengthen Youth Voice (Sauti ya Vijana Project-SYV).

Mofu Rothenburg Organization in partnership with Women’s Global Network for Reproductive Rights (WGNNR-AFRICA) engages in advocacy for comprehensive sexual reproductive health services, aiming to strengthen young people's voices and ensure access to vital services and information.

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT

´The main goals of the project are to reach young people from 10-24 years of age and provide Reproductive Health services education (RHS) and Friendly services to them of various group including boda boda people with disability ,sports men and etc.
´The (SYV) project is expected to reach approximately fifty four thousand (54000)young people within two years (2023-204) of implemented in all five districts in both regions ,namely Morogoro and Iringa.
´ To developing advocacy plan that can help decision-making at the ward , district , regional and national level
´To hold various meeting with district and regional health department officials and the ministry executives of health and discuss about Reproductive health and youth friendly services.
